Because of the wonky format of the ACC Baseball Championship, yesterday’s game between UNC and Pittsburgh didn’t really matter — Pittsburgh had already been eliminated from the semifinals and wasn’t going to qualify for the NCAA Tournament regardless, while UNC is almost certainly locked into a top-8 national seed no matter what were to happen in the ACCBC. But like I wrote yesterday, the game was important as a part of the schedule for UNC, enough so that head coach Scott Forbes started Friday ace Jason DeCaro against the Panthers. With last week’s series opener against Duke being a Thursday game, DeCaro’s throwing schedule will remain relatively untouched as the Heels open regional play next week.
