Former University of North Carolina baseball standout Zac Gallen didn’t take long to get his first win as a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Gallen accomplished that in a dominant performance on Wednesday night against the Philadelphia Phillies in which he didn’t allow a single run.
Gallen was so good, in fact, that he gave up just one hit and three walks in five innings against Bryce Harper and the Phillies. The former Tar Heel threw 85 pitches to 17 batters — 54 for strikes — and struck out six. He forced Philadelphia hitters into four ground balls and four fly balls while showing good command at the plate.
