As North Carolina is quickly proceeding towards its spring semester and basketball has tapped into ACC play, it’s easy to forget about how close we are to the start of college baseball. Feb. 14 is opening day for the Tar Heels, and there are large shoes to fill, succeeding a College World Series appearance.
Scott Forbes and the Diamond Heels stormed all the way to Omaha last season behind a storied postseason from Vance Honeycutt and a handful of others. North Carolina has crept back into the company of other consistent juggernauts of the sport recently, hosting a regional in five of the last eight years.
