Baseball truly has become a year round sport if you’re a collegian. Sure, you only play from February to June in the regular season, but between fall practice that culminates in an inter-squad scrimmage, plus summer league baseball there really isn’t much off time if this sport is what you choose.
Sure, if you take a sport seriously in college there’s year-round work, but unlike the other sports there’s not an outside league meant just for people who are in school that plays exclusively in the time between the school years. If you’re good enough to be selected for one of these summer opportunities, you’ll go straight from playing with your college buddies to handling a wood bat for a few weeks.
