The North Carolina Tar Heels baseball team may have fallen short in their goal to get back to the College World Series in 2019 but we did get to enjoy the emergence of one freshman.
Aaron Sabato wowed us all season long in Chapel Hill hitting .343/.453/.696 while posting an OPS of 1.149 and hitting 18 home runs and driving in 63 RBI’s. His big season earned him a All-ACC First-Team Selection and the Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Year award in 2019.
Sabato was also named the Co-National Freshman Player of the Year by Collegiate Baseball, capping off that impressive freshman year.
