UNC announced yesterday that they have created an all-sports collective that brings all of their NIL efforts under one name: Carolina NIL. Prior to this change, there were multiple NIL initiatives that focused on specific sports, and now all of Carolina athletics are under one umbrella.
Just to give a brief history: once NIL began, groups like Heels4Life (football) and the Secondary Break Club (basketball) were formed to provide NIL support for their specific sport. There were also some sub-groups within some of these sports, but without getting too deep into the weeds, let’s just say things were pretty messy until yesterday.
