It wasn’t pretty, but the North Carolina Tar Heels took down West Virginia in Carmichael Arena to advance to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament. It will be the third time advancing to the second weekend since 2015, and the second time doing so during the Courtney Banghart era.
For those people who turned into this one hoping for an exciting, offense-heavy game, they probably were sorely disappointed. UNC and WVU beat each other up quite a bit defensively, especially in the first half. The Mountaineers worked very hard to keep the Heels out of the paint, which they had a lot of success doing so for a decent amount of the first half.
