The NCAA indoor track national championships were held this past weekend in Virginia. Both the Carolina men’s and women’s teams ended up having runners win an individual national championship as the Tar Heels had one of their best collective showings in years.
Makayla Paige won the championship in the 800 meter race. Paige won with a time of 2:00.89, which was a facility record for the Virginia Beach Sports Center and a personal best for her. Paige took the lead early and held it for the entire race despite getting slightly bumped during the race. She finished over half of a second faster than the runner-up, Victoria Bossong of Harvard.
