Two recent coaching hires mean one-third of UNC’s head coaches are alums

One-third of North Carolina's head coaches — seven of 21 — graduated from Carolina. That total first increased when legendary UNC player, Erin Matson, replaced legendary coach Karen Shelton, in field hockey. The number reached seven last week when former UNC third baseman Megan Smith Lyon left Marshall to be UNC Softball's new head coach. (Tar Heel Tribune)
