CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – On Friday afternoon, UNC officially cemented a spot in the NCAA Field Hockey Tournament field. On Sunday night, the top-ranked Tar Heels got details.
North Carolina, the Atlantic Coast Conference Champion and recipient of the league's automatic bid, has been named the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament field for the fourth time in the past five years. The Tar Heels (17-0) will make a record 39th appearance in the field, hosting games on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at Karen Shelton Stadium.
"We're proud to be one of eighteen teams still practicing this week," UNC coach Karen Shelton said.
