SAN JOSE, CALIF. – Top-ranked Stanford survived a strong challenge from second-ranked North Carolina in the 2019 NCAA championship game before 9,591 fans at Avaya Stadium. The two teams fought tooth and nail to a double overtime deadlock before the Cardinal prevailed 5-4 on penalty kicks.
Claudia Dickey made a career high six saves in the goal for the Tar Heels. It matched her career high of six she had against Florida State on October 24 of this season. Stanford outshot the Tar Heels 21-12 in the game and had a 14-3 edge in corner kicks in the match.
