On Tuesday, North Carolina Tar Heels announced this year’s recipients of the school’s prestigious Patterson Medal, awarded to athletes for their outstanding career achievements. After another great year of UNC sport’s this year, football’s Michael Carter, tennis’ Sara Daavettila, and lacrosse’s Katie Hoeg were bestowed the honor for 2021.
Carter wrapped up his four-year football career last fall by being part of maybe the best running back group in the country and in school history, and helping the Tar Heels to a 8-4 season, spending most of it ranked in the top 25. He was named first team All-ACC (his second all-conference nod after making the third team in 2019) and an AP third team All-American.
