Senior Julia Young became the 36th North Carolina student to earn first-team All-America honors in field hockey Wednesday when she was one of 16 players named to the Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-America first team. Including Young, Tar Heels have earned first-team All-America honors on a total of 60 occasions. Two other seniors also earned All-America honors, with Emma Bozek named to the second team and Lauren Moyer to the third team.
The All-America trio encompasses the entirety of UNC’s captaincy for the 2016 season. Young was the team captain and Bozek and Moyer served as vice captains.
