CHAMPAIGN, Illinois - Three North Carolina women's tennis players earned first-round victories on Monday at the 2022 Division I NCAA Singles Championship from the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex at the University of Illinois.
No. 51 Carson Tanguilig had the most impressive win of the three by knocking out No. 4 seed Daria Frayman from Princeton, 6-4, 6-4. It was a nice bounce back for the UNC rookie who lost for the first time all year at five singles on Saturday in the team portion of the NCAA Championships.
Tanguilig improved to 31-6 in her outstanding freshman campaign with the win over Frayman, who became the first Ivy League women's tennis player to ever earn the nation's No.
