LINCOLN, NEB. – The fourth-ranked University of North Carolina women’s soccer team got goals from Dorian Bailey, Emily Bruder and Jessie Scarpa to defeat the University of Nebraska 3-0 Friday night before a Hibner Stadium record crowd of 2,746 fans.
The contest was played as a homecoming game for UNC senior defender and tri-captain Paige Nielsen who grew up in Lincoln and graduated from Lincoln Southeast High School in 2012. Playing center back in UNC’s 3-4-3 system, Nielsen helped lead a defensive effort which posted Carolina’s fifth clean sheet of the season while allowing only four shots by the Cornhuskers.
