CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina opened the 2016 gymnastics season with a 192.400-189.050 win over William & Mary at Carmichael Arena on Sunday. The Tar Heels were led by strong performances by sophomores Morgan Lane and Kaitlynn Hedelund, who finished first and second, respectively, in the all-around competition.
“I was pleased with the way we performed and it was good to earn our first win of the season,” said head coach Derek Galvin, who is in his 34th year at UNC. “We met most of our objectives and goals for the first week and we had a great and enthusiastic crowd.
