Tar Heel freshman Ryan Burnett tied for third and the UNC men's golf team shared runner-up honors with host Duke at the Rod Myers Invitational Sunday at the Duke University Golf Club.
Penn State, which led UNC by a single shot after Saturday's first two rounds, edged the Tar Heels by one stroke today to finish two ahead of both Carolina and the Blue Devils.
The Nittany Lions won the event by shooting 278-287-287 for a 12-under-par 852. Carolina, competing with three new starters from a year ago, shot even par as a team in the third round and 280-286-288 for the tournament to finish 10-under-854.
