CHAPEL HILL—North Carolina piled up nearly 700 yards of total offense while limiting Virginia to 21 yards rushing, dominating the second half to beat the Cavaliers, 59-39, on Saturday night at Kenan Stadium.
Carolina posted its highest-ever scoring output against Virginia since the beginning of Atlantic Coast Conference play in 1953, snapping a four-game losing streak to the Cavs.
Sam Howell threw for 307 yards and five touchdowns, Josh Downs caught eight passes for 203 yards and two scores and Ty Chandler rushed for 198 yards and two TDs in a dominant offensive performance by Carolina.
