Tar Heels Race Well On Shortened Day At Knecht Cup

After a successful but weather-shortened day of racing on Saturday, the North Carolina rowing team continues competition on Sunday at the Knecht Cup on Mercer Lake in West Windsor Township, N.J. UNC is one of 70 schools competing in the regatta.

Crews raced through chilly temperatures Saturday, but the start of rain in mid-afternoon was enough to delay the rest of the racing until Sunday.

The UNC varsity four won its heat, finishing in a time of 8:03.74 to beat Temple, Stanford, Villanova, Jacksonville and George Mason. The Tar Heels then went on to win their semifinal in 8:24.
