The North Carolina rowing team opened fall racing in dominant form Sunday, sweeping the top spots in both the varsity and novice eight races at the Occoquan Chase in Occoquan, Va. All four UNC varsity fours finished in the top six in that race.
“Overall it was an absolutely fantastic day,” Carolina coach Sarah Haney said following a day of racing on the Occoquan Reservoir. “The varsity eights dominated and came in one and two in the same event, so our second varsity eight beat every other varsity eight, so pretty impressive. Same thing for the novices – our second beat all of the other first novices eights as well.
