CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The 2017 NCAA Men's Tennis Championship kicks off Friday, and for the fourth year in a row North Carolina is playing on its home courts. The Tar Heels, ranked ninth nationally, take on VCU at 1 p.m. No. 20 South Carolina and East Tennessee State play at 10 a.m. in the opening matchup at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
The winners of Friday's matches meet Saturday at 3 p.m. for a spot in the NCAA Sweet 16 in Athens, Ga., next weekend.
Carolina (24-4) is making its 22nd NCAA Tournament appearance in 24 seasons under coach Sam Paul.
