UNC won three events and placed second in another in a day of rowing competition at the Occoquan Sprints in Fairfax Station, Va. The Tar Heel varsity eight, novice eight and varsity four all claimed firsts.
“I am incredibly proud of all of our boats today,” UNC coach Sarah Haney said. “The conditions were really tough, race times were uncertain and they all handled it very well. They didn't let any of the outside, uncontrollable issues negatively affect them and they came ready to race.”
Racing was delayed in the morning by very high headwinds and rough water conditions.
