Sophomore Ryan Gerard (Raleigh, N.C.) shot a 5 under 67 to lead the University of North Carolina to a 6-under-par finish in the second round at the ACC Men's Golf Championship played Thursday at the Old North State Club.
Carolina shot 282 over the second 18 holes, the third best team score in the second round after posting the highest score (297) Thursday morning. Only tournament leader Georgia Tech (270) and Wake Forest (276) were better than UNC's second-round 282. The 15-shot improvement from round one to round two was the best in the 12-team field.
