The North Carolina Tar Heels will receive a big boost on Tuesday when they host No. 2 Maryland.
Head coach Roy Williams told ESPN’s Andy Katz that senior guard Marcus Paige will make his season debut in the big matchup. Paige broke a bone in his hand and has been sidelined since the beginning of the season. The Tar Heels went 5-1 without Paige, which included a loss at Northern Iowa.
Paige averaged 14.1 points per game for the Tar Heels last season and is their leader on offense.
Williams updated reporters with Paige’s status before the Tar Heels opening game of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic last Monday, telling them that next week is the target.
