CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina will start the women's basketball season ranked 12th in the preseason Associated Press poll, which was released on Tuesday.
The ranking is the Tar Heels' highest in more than seven years, since the middle of the 2014-15 season.
UNC opens the season on Nov. 9 against Jackson State, with a 7 p.m. tipoff at Carmichael Arena. The 2022-23 Tar Heel roster includes the top four scorers and eight of the top nine from last year, when Carolina reached the NCAA Sweet 16 and finished 25-7 overall.
