Morgan Goetz, a freshman on the UNC field hockey team, is one of 80 students honored nationally as 2015 ZAG Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I Scholars of Distinction. The recognition goes to those who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.9 or better while competing for a varsity field hockey team.
Goetz, who is from Cary, N.C., and graduated from Cary Academy, is majoring in biomedical engineering with a minor in chemistry. As a true freshman, she played in 12 games and started six for the Tar Heels in 2015, as the team went 21-3, won the 2015 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship and reached the NCAA Championship game.
