In assessing his fencing teams’ performances at the Northwestern Duals last Saturday and Sunday, UNC coach Ron Miller turned to a grilling comparison to put the results in perspective. “If we’re looking at a steak, with rare being the worst and well done being the best, I would say we were medium well,” Miller said.
The busy weekend of competition gave the Tar Heels plenty of opportunities to learn and improve, with the women finishing 8-3 and the men 5-4 over the course of the two-day competition, held on the Notre Dame campus in South Bend, Ind.
