CHAPEL HILL – Emily Hawryshuk scored four goals as the 11th-ranked Syracuse women’s lacrosse team beat No. 2 North Carolina, 13-11, on Saturday afternoon at Fetzer Field. Carolina clawed back from two different four-goal, first-half deficits to tie the game at 7-7 shortly after halftime, but Syracuse went on a 6-1 run to retake control.
Syracuse improved to 12-4 this season and tied UNC atop the Atlantic Coast Conference standings at 5-1. Carolina fell to 12-2, 5-1 and saw its nine-game winning streak come to an end. The loss also ended UNC’s 18-game win streak against ACC opponents (since the 2015 ACC Tournament final almost two years ago).
