Consistency. In the world of golf, especially collegiate golf, it can be an elusive necessity. Following one successful season with another can prove to be a difficult challenge for any program. For the Tar Heels, who won three team titles and had four individual wins a year ago, the bar was set high for the 2015-16 season.
Carolina returned four starters – Henry Do, Ben Griffin, Carter Jenkins and William Register – and began the year ranked No. 13 in the country. The team opened with a ninth-place showing at the Carpet Capital Collegiate, then rebounded at the Primland Collegiate Invitational, where Register won in record fashion as a freshman, and brought home the champion's trophy.
