GREENSBORO--Georgia Tech senior guard Jose Alvarado was named the ACC Player of the Week on Monday, while North Carolina forward/center Day'Ron Sharpe was selected as the ACC Freshman of the Week.
ACC men's basketball weekly honors are determined by a vote of a 15-member media panel and announced on Mondays throughout the regular season.
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Alvarado averaged 22.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg and 4.5 apg as Georgia Tech picked up a pair of ACC victories to extend its win streak to four games. Alvarado was 17-of-24 from the field, including 3-of-7 from 3-point range, as the Yellow Jackets defeated North Carolina (72-67) and Wake Forest (70-54).
