Shalane Flanagan, one of the most decorated distance runners in American history, announced Monday she is retiring from professional running. During her 15-year pro career, Flanagan competed in four Olympics, won a silver medal in the 10,000 meters at the 2008 Olympics, set numerous American records, and won the 2017 New York City Marathon.
