North Carolina head coach Coleman Scott took gold at the 2016 Pan American Championships Saturday night at the Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas. Scott beat Wilber Euclides Cuero Munoz of Colombia in the final at 61 kg (134 pounds).
“I had to pick up my movement and my motion," Scott told TeamUSA.org. "It wasn’t my best performance by any means, but we’re still six weeks out from the Trials so it’s a good sign. It’s great that I like competition. Right now it’s perfect timing. I made the weight I wanted to make. Everything went right and I’m just fine-tuning and I’ll be a lot better in six weeks,” said Scott.
