It was speculated throughout the offseason that the North Carolina Tar Heels would be the favorites heading into the 2015-16 college basketball season. On Monday, the Associated Press just confirmed that.
The Tar Heels are ranked No. 1 in the AP Preseason poll for the first time since 2011. UNC finished ahead of No. 2 Kentucky, No. 3 Maryland, No. 4 Kansas and No. 5 Duke. It’s the ninth time overall the Tar Heels have been No. 1 in the preseason poll which is a new record.

The Heels were co-number one teams with the Kentucky Wildcats in the USA Today poll released in October, but have claimed the top spot in the AP Poll.
