SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Freshman Tori Dellaperuta scored in the 32nd minute and Emmie Allen recorded her second solo shut out of the season as No. 3 North Carolina earned a 1-0 victory over Syracuse on Thursday night for its first Atlantic Coast Conference victory.
The goal was Dellaperuta's second game-winner and fourth overall, joining junior Avery Patterson and sophomore Emily Murphy as Tar Heels with four or more goals this season.
With the result, Carolina (8-2, 1-1 ACC) improved to 8-0 all-time against Syracuse (7-3, 0-2 ACC), including a 5-0 record versus the Orange in central New York.
