RALEIGH, N.C. --- Preston Palmeiro hit his second two-run homer in as many days and No. 13 North Carolina State scored a 10-1 series-deciding win over No. 17 North Carolina Saturday afternoon at Doak Field. Palmeiro was one of four Wolfpack hitters with two hits on the day, while Adam Pate led the Carolina attack with three knocks.
NC State (34-18, 15-13 ACC) opened the scoring against Jason Morgan (3-3) in the second and pushed its lead to 3-0 with Palmeiro's blast in the third. After Pate doubled in Carolina's lone run in the fourth, the hosts added a pair of unearned runs with a bases-loaded hit by pitch and a sac fly.
