Nine University of North Carolina athletic programs have earned NCAA Recognition Awards for outstanding Academic Progress Rates, the NCAA announced on Wednesday. That marks the third consecutive year UNC has won the most recognition awards among public schools in the Atlantic Coast Conference and ties Rutgers for the most awards won by any public school in the Power 5 Conferences.
The APR measures a team's academic success by tracking the progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation. This year's awards are based on multi-year rates from data including 2014-15 to 2017-18.
