At 21 years old, Carolina senior diver Emily Grund was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia, a rare form of cancer. Thanks to early detection and her medical team at the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, she announced in October that her leukemia has been declared in remission. Since that declaration she has become an advocate for UNC Lineberger's AYA (Adolescent/Young Adult) Cancer program, which focuses on the physical, mental, and emotional needs of young adults ages 13-39 with cancer.
