LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Stephen Mulherin will compete as an individual in the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday. Mulherin finished ninth in the Southeast Regional with a personal best of 29:33.33 in the 10k to qualify for the championships.
Mulherin finished 85th in the NCAA Cross Country Championships a year ago when the men’s team finished 12th overall. Mulherin has led the team this year for the most part and had a significant improvement from the conference championships to the regional. Mulherin is the first male runner from UNC to qualify for the championships as an individual since Jake Hurysz in 2011 who finished 62nd.
