COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Former North Carolina head fencing coach Ron Miller has been announced as one of nine inductees to join the USA Fencing Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2023.
Miller was appointed head coach at Carolina for the 1967-68 season and remained in that position until retirement at the end of the 2018-19 season, a career that spanned 52 years and over 1,600 victories.
He started the Tar Heels fencing program back in 1967 and continued to thrive for six decades that included being named Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year on 10 occasions, including for both the men's and women's teams in 2018.
