Mike Fox is Carolina baseball. The 1978 graduate was an All-CWS performer for the first Tar Heel team to advance to Omaha for 12 years and ushered the program into the modern era of college baseball after taking over as head coach in 1999.
As just the fourth Diamond Heels skipper since the Great Depression, the Fox era quickly proved to be the most successful in Carolina baseball history. A string of talented Carolina teams fell just short of the College World Series in the early 2000s before a magical night in Tuscaloosa changed the trajectory of the program forever.
