WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – goal in the 16th minute and six save showing helped lift the No. 7 North Carolina men's soccer program (9-3-5) over No. 2 Wake Forest (11-2-5), 1-0, Sunday in ACC Tournament quarterfinal action.
How It Happened
• In the 16th minute, Al-Qaq's strike from just outside the box snuck past Demon Deacons goalkeeper, giving Carolina the early 1-0 edge.
• With under 10 minutes remaining in the opening half, Cordes halted back-to-back Wake Forest shot attempts.
• Wake Forest nearly converted on a corner kick in the 58th frame, however Garrison Tubbs' header sailed just right.
