Men's Soccer Reveals Second Team Tar Heel XI

CHAPEL HILL- After thousands of fan votes as part of the Tar Heel XI project, an all-time best list of UNC's men's soccer student-athletes, the UNC men's soccer program is revealing a Second Team Tar Heel XI today, with the first team being announced Wednesday, July 29.

Goalkeeper

Michael Ueltschey (1998-01)

  • 2001 National Champion
  • Second all-time in program history with 29 shutouts
  • Competed in the MLS for two seasons

Defenders

Don Cogsville (1985-88)

  • Competed in the MISL for two seasons
  • Earned six caps in 1988 as part of the United States National Team

Matt Hedges (2011)

  • 2011 All-America
  • 2011 National Champion
  • Captain of FC Dallas
  • Earned five caps with USNT from 2015-17
  • Voted twice onto the MLS Best XI
  • 2016 MLS Defender of the Year

Eddie Robinson (1996-00)

  • Earned a cap with USNT in 2008
