DURHAM, N.H. – North Carolina fell to No. 16 New Hampshire, 4-1, on the road in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday afternoon.
North Carolina finishes the season with a record of 11-7-2 (4-4 ACC), while New Hampshire's record improves to 17-1-2 (7-0-1 America East) as they advance to the third round of the tournament. New Hampshire will compete against the winner of No. 1 Oregon State and St. Johns.
Carolina was ranked No. 23 by United Soccer Coaches, No. 22 in the Top Drawer Soccer poll, and No. 24 by the College Soccer News poll this week after falling to Clemson in the quarterfinals of the ACC Championships, but advancing on penalty kicks against Loyola Maryland in the first round.
