The University of North Carolina men's golf team, ranked No. 4 in the country by Golfstat, will play third-ranked Texas Tech in match play Friday at the Hapuna Beach Golf Club in Waimea, Hawai'i in place of the Amer Ari Invitational, which was canceled due to high winds.
The Tar Heels played seven or eight holes (depending on the player) in the first round on Wednesday before play was initially suspended and soon thereafter canceled. Today, the Carolina players were on holes three and four when conditions again became unplayable.
In lieu of the tournament, two ACC teams and two Big 12 teams, all ranked in the top 20, will compete Friday in an officially NCAA-sanctioned match play event, the ACC-Big 12 Showdown.
