The University of North Carolina men's golf team made the cut for the fourth round of stroke play after tying for sixth place through 54 holes in the 2021 NCAA Championship at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The Tar Heels shot 7-over-par 287 on Sunday and dropped one spot into a tie for sixth with Vanderbilt and Wake Forest. Fifteen of the 30 teams in the field advance to Monday's fourth round. The top eight teams after stroke play concludes on Memorial Day qualify for match play, beginning with quarterfinal-round action on Tuesday morning.
Freshman Peter Fountain of Raleigh led UNC in the third round with a 1-under 69, his second consecutive round in the 60s after a 68 on Saturday.
