Ryan Gerard, David Ford and Peter Fountain each shot in the 60s in the third and final round of the ASU Thunderbird Collegiate Saturday at the Papago Golf Course in Phoenix.
The fifth-ranked Tar Heels moved up one spot over the final 18 holes to finish the tournament in fifth place at 12-under-par 840. Carolina shot the fourth-best round today with a 9-under 275, which was seven strokes better than either of its rounds on Friday (282-283).
Top-ranked Oklahoma shot 14-under 270 today and won the Thunderbird at 31-under 821, five strokes better than tournament host and fourth-ranked Arizona State.
