Carolina's men's swim team finished the ACC Championships well with a few strong performances, landing the team seventh in the conference. Similar to the women's team, UNC's men moved up three spots last year's championship, in which they had finished tenth.
Chris Thames finished seventh in the 200 backstroke, as did Valdas Abaliksta in the 200 breaststroke. The Tar Heels also placed fifth in the 400 freestyle relay, and the highlight of the meet was Jack Messenger tying Louisville's Andrej Barna for third in the 100 freestyle.
Carolina's teams return home to Koury Natatorium for the UNC Invitational on March 1 and March 7 before they head to NCAA Championships at the end of March.
