MANHEIM, PA. - North Carolina wrestlers Lachlan McNeil and Austin O'Connor collected Scholar All-America recognition Friday afternoon, the National Wrestling Coaches Association announced.
A native of Toronto, Ontario, McNeil is a business administration student at North Carolina. On the mat, McNeil won 27 matches on the year for the Tar Heels, on his way to collecting a fourth-place All-America finish at the NCAA Championships last month.
The 2023 NCAA Champion at 157-pounds, O'Connor finished the year with a 23-0 mark on the mat. The program's first five-time All-America honoree and ACC Wrestler of the Year, O'Connor is finishing up a master's degree in educational innovation, technology & entrepreneurship from UNC.
