CHAPEL HILL - Drake Maye has enjoyed a tremendous start to the 2022 football season and because of that is earning a place on several national award lists this week.
The red-shirt freshman signal caller was named the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback of the Week and the Maxwell Award Player of the Week after his outstanding performance in the victory over Pitt last Saturday night.
Maye was responsible for 95 percent of Carolina's total offense in 42-24 win over the Panthers. He set season highs in completions (33), attempts (44) and passing yards (388) while equaling his career high for the third time in 2022 with five passing touchdowns, and rushed for a team-high 61 yards to total 449 of UNC's 474 yards.
