GREENVILLE, N.C. - Former North Carolina punter Joey Mangili was named the recipient of the University Scholar Athlete award by the National Football Foundation (NFF) and College Hall of Fame, Inc., presented at the Bill Dooley Triangle East Chapter of North Carolina annual awards dinner held Monday at East Carolina University.
Mangili served as the team's holder on place kicks last season and had 28 career punts. He joined the team as a walk-on in the fall of 2012 and was a member of the 2013-14 ACC Academic Honor Roll. In 2015, he handled the majority of the punting duties with 24 punts for a 40.
